Speaking too soon
Looks like I spoke too soon … I had to manually publish yesterdays post, Word Press just tossed up a message beside the post that said ‘Missed Schedule“… how helpful (*cough * retarded * cough *) … An answer will come, I’m sure of it
So what’s with the universe as of late? One client say go, then no go after I went. Another client says hurry up, but then doesn’t show up for a scheduled meeting, QuickBooks insists on making integration with Rails so complex that I wish I didn’t have to go anywhere near QuickBooks (but I still do). My oldest hasn’t called me in over a week now
. The people that I have been forced to to deal with against my will for the sake of my children haven’t returned a phone call (thats a whole other story). I had to deal with a flat tire last night… what gives?
I’m being my normal optimistic self, why all the obstacles and challenges? The universe must know by now that I’m just gonna shine no matter what… If last year didn’t kill me, it’s unlikely that anything except old age will… So when do the uber hot, half naked women start throwing themselves at me, where is the mountain of unexpected money and fortune, and why hasn’t it fallen on me yet ….
Puzzling, thats for sure
Oh well … I’ll be grateful that the go no go client will be super happy with everything once it’s done and a real go, relaxed that the hurry up client is allowing me to make it a leisurely stroll vs. a sprint, proud that I will have mastered Rails and QuickBooks by the time the integration is done, extra excited to hear from my beautiful little girl, happy that the people I’m forced to deal with are only hanging themselves more by not getting back to me in a timely manner, and glad that I finally got that portable air compressor I needed to get.
Attitude of Gratitude Universe… Thanks for all the great stuff your sending …
Can I put in a request for those super hot half naked women to hurry up with my mountain of money?
Awesome!!!

More Random Things
Heh … It looks like I fixed my blogging issue, yesterday’s post appeared like clockwork. It’s getting late so I’ll keep this one short. (it should appear like clockwork too).
Had an interesting issue with a client today, (I’m not going to bare all the details here) in a nutshell I was given the go ahead to get something posted, which I did promptly, only to have an internal snafu on the clients part have the post reversed. Now I know what kinda political things go on in companies, but why waste the freelance developers time only to undo it, so it can be done again tomorrow with additional cost? Somethings I guess just won’t make sense all the time … that was my idea of a professional rant though
Oh, I also had a peek in on my logs last night, some interesting traffic showing up to view my site … Being Ex Rogers has its perks (its not what you know, but who you know sometimes) … I’ll say this (as I put on my tinfoil hat) … I know you’re watching :-p … You go right ahead and watch, watch me expand my network of people, clients, and income through this blog…. Watch me succeed … this little blog is generating traffic for my freelance business, and generating income in Google Ad-Sense. (I make no qualms about it), Google wants to advertise on my blog? good business for me
I’m not hiding the fact that I’m advertising on these pages, hopefully the content is better then the advertising though. But for YOU … Come back often to watch, hell, comment if you like, I would love to get the feedback.
That would be good, to actually post stuff that people comment on, interesting stuff … like this?
I’m sure it will only get better… Craig said that he is enjoying the blog so far this year … Thats at least one piece of positive feedback (Thnx Dude)
Working from home tomorrow today … need to get some rest, not in the polyphasic cycle just yet… soon tho (hopefully)

Odds and Ends…
Just a few things that relate to the various posts so far this year… No particular order (if your actually following along they will make sense to you).
Word of Goo has OCD Missions!!!!! (Thanks Craig) … Insanely hard missions within the missions for the obsessive people (this may take awhile, but its added a distraction I SO didn’t need).
SmallTalk will be the new language (i think) this year Craig and Steven both say the squeak distro is what I want to look at … because a Language that was written in it’s own Language sounds kinda twisted, and lets be honest, thats how I roll
Check Engine Light came back on, however I think I know why … will have to stop in and see my Mechanic to verify my suspicion.
The LMD project came up yesterday, looks like DivX 7 is using Matroska … who woulda thought? I will have to let my brain cycle through the idea a little more….
Made a list for a VA (Virtual Assistant if you were wondering Lee). Hopefully next month I will have the funds available to look into getting one for a few hours (Recommendations Anyone???) … Initial plan is for the phone project … lets see if this one can grow wings
Oh, You may have thought I wasn’t blogging for a few days .. seems that my Mac Journal doesn’t like something in my current Word Press version and my posts have been sitting as unpublished for days on end …. Rest assured I’m writing… perhaps if you notice a day is missing (they should always come in around 11:11 AM (worth a post on it’s own)) send me a nudge and i’ll kick the side of the pipe to make them fall out (I try to keep a few thoughts in queue so there isn’t really a reason to go without a post).
Rails is becoming a Love Hate relationship, as this post went live I’m in a meeting (assuming that the twiddle I did worked) with a Client about a Rails project.
I think thats enough for now…

World of Goo …
Wow, this is exactly why I don’t play video games … I recently discovered the World of Goo, its worse then Lemmings was, (in a, this is far too addictive way). The premise is that you have different types of goo balls and you need to rescue them, some float, all are kinda sticky. I spent far too much time Sunday Evening playing this game, and then last night I finished it.
If your anything like me, once in a long while a game comes along that you just can’t put down (no matter how silli or stupid it is). World of Goo is one of these, I think I played for about 5 hours straight on Sunday (major distraction).
But I suppose that if the distraction was present, then there is something to learn from it… After all, nothing happens that isn’t supposed too right? What I’m supposed to learn from the goo balls (aside from “we’re all in this together“) I’m not yet sure, but I needed something to write about today and the little gooey guys were still on my mind, it was kinda sad that I finished it. I think that the developers should do a sequel
Kudos to 2D Boy
Check it out if you get a chance http://2dboy.com/games.php

Car Maintenance … Reflections of Life
So I write this as I’m waiting for my Mechanic (Jeff FInley) to finish a scheduled oil change for my car. (looking for a GREAT mechanic? … I’ve got one)
This guy runs a tight ship and never charges me anything but an honest and fair price. I couldn’t ever ask for anyone better.
He is also troubleshooting my check engine light which has been on since I got the car. Awesome
That leads me into thinking about a project coming out of the Master Mind Group (we should be meeting today). What kind of ‘check engine light’ can we assign to life?
Looks like the car is done… that makes for a super short post.
