Scattered Ramblings…
Yesterday I met up with Dylan Murray for coffee, Dylan is a great local Roots Reggae musician that Kal introduced me too, we just totally vibed off each other and we have become pretty good friends. We try to get together a few times a month just to talk about life and share introspection, It’s people like this I am most grateful for having in my life. They keep me grounded in a way that literally eliminates all self doubt and reminds me that I AM part of something greater. Dylan has this ability, as do a few other close personal friends. The trick now is holding on to that feeling so that I can be more productive and accomplish the things I want to accomplish so badly.
The flip side here is the id, or ego that we all have, mine is particularly strong in some cases and I need to do some unlearning. Far too often I become consumed by the thinking self (as Eckhart Tolle explains it), and while I do have an increasing number of present moments in my life, they are still fleeting and do not last. I need to be more present and yet I need to get so many things sorted out for the future, the ducks are all there, some are in line, most are off having a keg party that I wasn’t invited too.
At any rate … check out Dylan Murray, he is such a deep soul, you are missing out by not giving him a listen.

Spring is coming!!!
I’m so excited! some of my favorite things happen in the spring, you fell alive and full of life, the birds return, the snow melts away, little buds appear on the trees, the rain comes and makes that awesome smell of damp earth that you only get in the spring and which is only comparable to the awesome smell you get of the decaying leaves in the fall. Before you know it the weather has turned warm enough to get out on your bike, and then your in the woods coasting down a single track of hard packed earth, the sound of the june bugs buzzing in the distance, the smell of the fresh blooms filling your nose.
I love the way the world looks from a bike. I like to go for a nice long ride, slip off the trail part way through, balance a rock and contemplate the awesomeness that is the earth. I’m SOOOOO excited! … Thanks to Craig (who I WILL get out on the trails this season) I have these great Vibram Flo’s (Five Fingers) that I can’t wait to take for a bike ride again … I only got in one ride before the end of last season with them and I’m starting to go a little mental waiting to get out again. This year (about half way through the season) I would love to get last years Stump Jumper… (Last years model is always cheeper). That would be sweet…

Hallmark Day
Happy Hallmark day everyone!
Or as one of my friends referred to it, Happy singles awareness day. Personally I think that the majority of the ‘holidays’ are far too commercial, Christmas is the never ending holiday of line ups and that one hot gift that no one can find. (Kinda like Winter tires in any province except Quebec). Thanksgiving is all about the turkey, Even Ester is more about the egg hunt then the actual celebration of the Christ’s rebirth. Now don’t get me wrong, commercialism has produced one of my favorite holidays (the May 24) … Ahh the return of docks and lakes, ice cold beer in the wilderness, camping with friends in the great outdoors, setting fire to your favorite sweater, staying up super late strumming the guitar… But I digress …
Valentines day has always seemed like a bit of a crock to me, you spend one day letting the people you care about most know? Why not spend everyday letting the special people know that you think they are special? Wouldn’t that be really showing them? I am however VERY grateful for the ‘specialness’ (its a word) of the day, I had a home made meal (and my favorite meal at that) cooked specially for me (Lasagna made from scratch) followed by a homemade blueberry cheesecake for dessert that was to die for (assuming you like cheesecake as much as I do), followed up with some great dessert for dessert, dessert (if you catch my drift).
Now I’m looking forward to the 14th of March … Sex and Steak day

Friday the 13th
Superstition is an interesting thing, it’s so ingrained in most of us (even those that swear they aren’t superstitious) that were not even aware of it. I thought it would be fitting today to talk about origins to some of the more common ones … Like Friday the 13th. did you know that its only been a mainstream superstitious day since the 1950’s, and the earliest documented reference is in a 1869 Biography of Gioachino Antonio Rossini who died on a Friday the 13th?
There are many theories out there of where this superstition started, from the norse folklore of a goddess named Frigga (Friday) who despite being the goddess of love and fertility convened with 11 other witches and the devil! (13 in total) … You can thank the distorted views of Christianity for that version… and of coarse lets not forget the Da Vinci Code, Knights Templar version that has become popular in recent years. Oh, and I can’t forget that the fear of ‘unlucky’ 13 stretches to much more then just Fridays … Most buildings don’t have an official 13th floor, and as a society we seem to accept that…
Personally I think that as far as days go, its a pretty lucky day …
Friday’s usually rock because the weekend starts, and there are 13 moons in a year… so how could it be unlucky?
But then again, I’m not really a lucky, unlucky, lucky kinda guy. I prefer to think that life is 10% what happens and 90% how you manage it.
Some other common superstitions to leave you food for thought…
Horseshoes – Great luck, just don’t turn them upside down or the luck will fall out
Lucky Rabbit Foot – Lucky for you, not so lucky for the rabbit that lost it.
Four Leaf Clover – Protects you from ‘evil’ spells and really lucky if your Irish.
Broken Mirrors – Seven years of bad luck if you break a mirror … unless of coarse you wait seven hours to clean it up.
Black Cats – don’t let them cross your path (or don’t watch) … Thats why Morphious got nabbed … it was the cat’s fault!
I’m not saying that I’m NOT a superstitious person, I actually am… but I think that as an educated and hopefully intelligent civilization, we should look at some of the limiting beliefs we all carry around with us.
I’m off to have an uber awesome, fantastic, happy, luck, joy day!!! I hope you have one too!!!
Hmmm….
Now I have to find something else to write about next month, when we get another Friday the 13th …

Momentum
I can feel the momentum building, I still have A LOT going on, and I’m not being nearly as productive as I need to be, but I AM improving, I am grateful for the good people that I work with and that have been so understanding so far of all the ‘stuff’ I’m dealing with. I do feel like i;m coming out of the ‘fog’ though and thats a good feeling, much better then the overwhelmed, oh gawd, stop the planet, I want off feeling that I have grown accustomed too over the past 8 months.
With some additional effort and a dash of luck, I;ll be out from under the looming soon.
The trick is to keep moving, it kinda reminds me of a phrase my mother told me… “If you’re going through hell … keep going.” and I have been, and as a result of my colleagues and friends, I have managed to not drown, and I’m grateful for that. Even better, I can feel the momentum and I know things are just going to keep getting better and better … Tomorrow’s meeting should prove insightful too … Will fill you in if and when I can.

11:11
Steve Pavlina (Personal Development for Smart People) decided to post about 11:11 yesterday, so I thought it would be a good time to mention my own beliefs with this awesome awareness of a manifestation.
If you are reading my blog through an RSS feed, you will have undoubtedly noticed that my posts are always set to 11:11AM (or perhaps you didn’t notice but will now). This has been my way of paying homage to those other people out there that experience 11:11 on a daily (or frequent) basis. I don’t remember the first time that I noticed I was looking at a clock specifically at 11:11 (a.m. or p.m.), but I do know that I have ‘always’ noticed. If you know me, and have been anywhere around me during an 11:11 minute, I may have even told you “11:11, make a wish”.
The reasoning behind the 11:11 phenomenon varies depending on who you ask, put simply *I* believe that there are some people out there that naturally manifest this value into their awareness as a reminder that the universe is not as it appears (as does Steve Pavilina if you read his post). Additionally I believe that
the people who experience 11:11 and are open to the belief that it’s a reminder, that there is more to the universe then you see or hold as a belief are the ones that are accelerating through the shift in consciousness that we are all currently experiencing. (A whole other topic to get too).
I also find it very interesting that the Mayan Calendar ends on Dec 21 2012 @ 11:11 GMT. Seeing as the Mayans knew more about ‘time’ then any other civilization to date, I would think that more people would take serious note of this. (Then again, I have this constant draw towards Peru). So perhaps thats interrelated? … After reading the Celestine Prophecy many years ago, I got it in my head that the probability a civilization like the Mayan’s who understood the cycles of time so well, didn’t necessarily vanish into thin air and die off as a civilization. I think that perhaps they went to the ‘end of time’ (as they saw it, for this great cycle). Dec 21 2012. And at that time, we may catch up with them …
Time (heheh) will tell the tale
